Create a Rock Garden

To create loving and positive messages about your family to enjoy.

Activity Instructions:

Using a selection of rocks, have each family member paint or write words that bring joy to the family. The words should describe feelings, images, ideas and beliefs about your family and life in general. Some examples of descriptive words you can use are: love, kindness, trust, beauty, peace, contentment, safety. Be sure to use a variety of colors and paints, and encourage creativity with the designs. You can create a rock garden either outside or inside the house. For indoor displays, form a garden on a large platter or other dish, or place rocks in various locations throughout the house. You might even want to carry a rock with you as a reminder of your family's intentions.

Materials:

• Small rocks or stones
• Puffy or acrylic paint
• Paintbrushes
• Clear protective paper

Outcome:

Create a place where the whole family can view inspirational reminders of feelings for one another.
