Kids Charts: Karate Theme
|
Behavioral charts are fantastic tools for parents and teachers to shift the behavior of their children or students. You establish certain behaviors you would like to change such as refusing to abandon their phone or computer at night and going to sleep and reward them when they do. The problem is, that many boys instantly resist behavioral charts that are too "girlish or babyish," So welcome to this Karate themed behavioral chart that will attract the toughest boys (and girls). The idea is to select up to 10 behaviors (note young boys and girls probably do better with 3 or 4 behaviors) and to reward them for positive behaviors with points. For example, boys in particular often get so enthused within their own world that they often interrupt parents, their siblings or even worse, teachers. They show their kid the chart, tell them that they love them but it's important not to interrupt when its not appropriate, so put that behavior on the chart and tell them this is a behavior we will need to work on. Then immediately give them an arbitrary number of points, (say 10) for their attention and not interrupting while you explain how the chart works. Tell them at the end of the week, if they garner 50 points, they can stay up an extra 30 minutes one night of the week to watch television. Then further explain that if they earn 200 points over 4 weeks, you will buy them a video game. Children quickly respond to behavioral charts and Kidz Points makes them available for free. Just find the chart you want, and print it out on your printer.
