Kids Chart: Scuba Theme
|
Kids Pointz, one of American's leaders in free, printable charts including behavioral charts hit it out of the park once again when it began to offer a free Scuba behavioral chart. The idea behind a behavior chart is first to make it look innocuous and inconspicuous for its true intent as a behavioral chart. This bright, underwater chart goes everywhere, whether on the home refrigerator or the kid's own room and doesn't stand out as a behavioral reinforcement device. Yet it works that way. A weekly chart, up to 10 behaviors can be tracked, and points assigned for each behavior, although younger children probably do better with 3 or 4 behaviors. Try in particular to assign points right away on at least one behavior, such as paying attention or not interrupting to show them how it works. Then come to a mutual agreement of some type of reward, such as extra hours of watching tv or using the computer in exchange for garnering points. Older kids, in particular, can relate to being able to drive their parent's car or spending the night with a friend or a promised fishing trip. The charts are free at Kids Pointz, and all you need do is go the appropriate page and then print them out on your home printer. Behaviors quickly change this way as children learn that positive behaviors can generate positive rewards.
