As children get older, it is important that you teach them responsibility so they will be able to live independently someday without any struggles. At home, you can start by issuing them chores in which they can do dishes, wipe down counters, clean up after dinner, sweep and mop the floors, or even do a little outside work on the sunnier days. To help them keep track of what chores they need to do on certain days of the week, try using printable chore charts for your child or for switching up chores between multiple children. If you have younger children in the house, you can also use the chore chart to hand out rewards if they have completed their chores for the week without any issues. When young children are rewarded for good behavior like chores, they will tend to gain the motivation needed to keep up the good work as the rewards will be worth it. After using the chart and receiving rewards for a period of time, you can slowly start to wean them off of the chart and watch as their responsibilities come natural to them within the home within just a short period of time.
